Terms of use

The service

TestingAPIs (“we”) provides a free fake API, browser-based developer tools and API testing lessons, and an API builder with free and paid plans. Its core endpoints (echo, HTTP methods, status codes, and the products, posts and todos resources) are open to everyone; the rest need a free account. By using the site, the API or an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.

Test data only

The API returns made-up data for prototyping, learning and testing. It is not accurate, complete or suitable for real decisions. Data you create is temporary, may be visible to other users and is deleted when the server restarts. Do not send real personal data, real credentials or anything confidential.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Send traffic meant to overload the service, such as load tests at a volume that affects other users, or denial-of-service attacks.
  • Try to get around rate limits, the free tier or API key checks, or break into the servers.
  • Use the service to store or spread illegal, harmful or abusive content.
  • Use the service as the backend of a production application.

We may block clients that break these rules, without notice.

Accounts and API keys

A free account gives you API keys for the test API's endpoints outside the free tier, and is needed for the API builder. You can create one with a username and password, or by signing in with Google or GitHub. By creating an account you agree that:

  • You are at least 18.
  • You give an email address you control. One person may have one account. Do not create accounts automatically, in bulk or with someone else's email address.
  • You keep your password and API keys secret, and you are responsible for what is done with them. Do not publish keys in public repositories or in client-side code that others can read, and do not share, sell or lend them. If a key may have leaked, revoke it on your account page at once.
  • Accounts have limits, such as the number of API keys and request rates. We may change these limits, and which endpoints are free, at any time.
  • We may suspend or delete accounts, or revoke keys, that break these terms, abuse the service or put other users at risk.
  • You can delete your account at any time on your account page. The privacy policy explains what an account stores and what deleting it removes.

The API builder

The API builder lets you create hosted mock APIs for development and testing. It uses the account described above and is in private beta: only accounts we have invited can use it. You are responsible for what you store in your projects and for keeping your mock API keys private.

  • Use it for development, testing, demos and learning only. It is not a production backend, and nothing you store there should depend on it.
  • Do not store real personal data, real credentials, production secrets or confidential information in your projects.
  • Quotas and rate limits apply to each account and project. They may change while the builder is in beta.
  • We may suspend or disable projects or accounts that break these terms, abuse the service or put other users at risk.
  • The beta is provided as-is. We may need to reset beta data; if we do, we will tell you by email before it happens.

Paid plans. The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly, in advance, through Razorpay and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices and what each plan includes are shown on the pricing page; we will tell you before a price change applies to you.

  • You can cancel at any time from Settings, under Plan and billing. You keep the paid plan until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.
  • If a renewal payment fails, the paid plan stays active for 7 days while the payment is retried; after that the account moves to the Free plan.
  • Moving to a smaller plan never deletes your data. Anything over the new plan's limits stays readable and editable, but you can't add more until you upgrade or remove some.
  • Refunds follow our refund and cancellation policy: your first payment is refundable within 7 days, and mistaken or duplicate charges are always refunded.

Delivery. Plans are an online service: a paid plan's limits and features apply to your workspace as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within a minute. Nothing is shipped. See the shipping and delivery policy.

Team workspaces. A team workspace is shared by several accounts, each with a role: owner, admin, editor or viewer.

  • The owner is responsible for the workspace: its plan and payments, who is invited, and what its members do in it. Plans are bought for a workspace, not for each member.
  • Projects belong to the workspace. Members who leave or are removed lose access to them; the owner can delete the workspace and everything in it.
  • Invite only people who expect to hear from you, by an address they control. An invitation can be accepted only by its own, confirmed address.
  • Each member is also bound by these terms through their own account.

Deleting your account also deletes your projects and everything stored for them immediately and cancels any subscription at once, without a refund for the rest of the period (ask for any refund you're due first). Projects on the Free plan that receive no requests for 60 days are archived until you reactivate them; nothing in them is deleted.

Availability

The free services are provided without uptime guarantees, and paid plans without a service-level agreement unless one is agreed in writing. Endpoints, tools, accounts and lessons may change, be rate limited or be removed at any time.
